‘There’s a proposal to build a wind farm beside my land. Can I get compensation? Can I oppose it?’

Query: Dear Mary Frances, there is a wind farm proposed for my locality. From what I hear it would be around 15 turbines and the company looking to do it have approached farmers whose land they want to put the turbines on.
I have land — an out-farm — adjoining one of these farmers, and it was when I met him the other day that he told me about it. The land isn’t great quality and he seems to think the payments for the use of his land will be a good earner for him.
