Query: Dear Mary Frances, I am seeking legal advice over the division of my late father’s assets. He was a farmer, and there were a number of old properties/derelict houses on our farm.

When I left home after college, my father always said he would leave me two of the properties, which are very close to each other, while my brother would get the bulk of the land as he has been farming it with my father over the years.
