Legal advice: ‘I farmed all my life with my brother, who died without a will. Now my other brother – who never lifted a finger on the farm – says his son should get a share of our land’

Query: Dear Mary Frances, I farmed the home farm with my late brother all our lives. It’s not a huge farm and both of us worked off-farm at times and my wife worked too, with her wages often being used to help the farm during difficult years and to support our family.

Sadly, my brother passed away suddenly last year and didn’t leave a will. He had no children.
