Hundreds of Wicklow children lined up at the Bridgewater Shopping Centre in Arklow recently to meet ‘Bluey’, the star of an Australian animated series sweeping the globe.

Eager to meet Bluey the blue heeler puppy, who along with her sister Bingo, parents and friends, learns all about the world, local children and their parents queued up in droves to have their photos taken with the lovable and inexhaustible character.

Praising the convivial event as a massive success, Bridgewater Shopping Centre Manager Stephanie Staines said: “It was an amazing event, and we had a queue for the whole two hours.

“We were blown away by the turnout and tried to keep the queue moving along swiftly to give everyone a chance to meet Bluey and have their photos taken.

“I didn’t really know who Bluey was until my daughter introduced me to her. The series is a bit like Peppa Pig, only a much better version of it with some lovely messages and lessons for the children.

“It was a brilliant event altogether, and we’ll definitely be welcoming Bluey back to the centre again.”
