Plan in place to provide Laois domestic abuse refuge

Minister of State and Laois Offaly TD, Sean Fleming has confirmed that a process is under way to provide Co Laois with a domestic abuse refuge.

The news comes as an additional €82,000 worth of funding has been allocated to the Laois Domestic Abuse Service to support them in expanding their frontline service.

"This additional funding will support Laois Domestic Abuse Service with the necessary supports they need to continue and expand their frontline service,” explained Minister of State Sean Fleming.

“Laois Domestic Abuse Service provide a vital service and carry out very important work for women and children in Laois who need their support and assistance.”

Minister Fleming added: “I am pleased to also confirm that progress is under way to provide a Laois domestic abuse refuge in Portlaoise, for the county.

“This is very welcome funding for this service and I want to thank the people involved with Laois Domestic Abuse Service for the invaluable work that they do,” concluded Minister Fleming.
