Sun and scattered showers on the way as clouds set for bank holiday Monday

Met Éireann has forecast a largely dry day across most of the country with sunny spells and just a few showers.

It will be rather cloudy over Ulster with the chance of patchy rain or drizzle at times over the northern half of the province.

Things will turn cloudier in southern coastal areas during the day with the chance of some rain or drizzle developing along southern coasts.

Maximum temperatures today will range from 13 to 17 degrees, with light northeast breezes expected.

Cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread from the north overnight but it will remain mainly dry with clear spells in the southeast.

Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees are expected tonight with light to moderate northwest winds.

Monday will be a mostly cloudy day with some patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle at times but things will become dry by the evening with sunny spells developing in parts.

Highest temperatures are expected to be between 11 and 16 degrees, with a light to moderate northerly wind on the way.

Monday night will be largely dry with clear spells developing, although it will remain mostly cloudy in the northwest.

Temperatures will hit a low of 6 to 9 degrees, with a light northerly breeze.

Tuesday looks to be a brighter and drier day with cloudy conditions in the west during the morning, giving way to good spells of sunshine.

Highest temperatures will be between 12 and 17 degrees with a light northerly breeze.

Tuesday night will be dry with clear spells for much of the night and lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees.

Wednesday will be bright and largely dry with long spells of sunshine, and just patches of rain and drizzle possible in the west at times. Highest temperatures of 13 to 19 degrees are expected, with a light to moderate south to southwest wind.

It will be mostly dry overnight with long clear spells, along with some showers in the northwest spreading eastwards. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees are forecast, with light to moderate southwest breezes.

Thursday will be a largely dry day with isolated showers over the northern half of the country. It will likely be mostly cloudy too with the odd sunny spell and highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.
