Conor Phillips was still coming to terms with the harsh reality of having been let go by Munster when he began to wonder if professional rugby was really for him. It was last August, Phillips was just about to turn 24 and had left Limerick, where he lived at home with his mother, Trish, since they moved from London when he was two years old.

Although he was excited at the prospect of relocating to Dublin to join Terenure, Phillips soon found that the transition into the ‘real world’ was much trickier than he initially envisaged.
