EPCR have announced that Connacht lock Darragh Murray has been cited for an alleged dangerous tackle.

The incident occurred in the fifth minute of the western province’s defeat to Benetton last Saturday and, if he picks up a ban, would rule the highly rated youngster out of pivotal games in their run-in as they look to salvage their season.

Murray was handed a yellow card for making head on head contact on Ignacio Mendy who left the field for a Head Injury Assessment.

Referee Mike Adamson deemed there not to be a high degree of danger, but the Citing Commissioner John Byett has referred it to the Independent Judicial Officer Gareth Graham who will hear the case on a “papers only basis”.

Connacht are 10th in the URC with five games to go and face Zebre on Saturday, before facing Dragons, Munster, Stormers and Leinster in their remaining games.
