In December, the main concern in the tillage industry was the availability of seed to sow, and resow, the bare land that proliferated everywhere.

In late March, the main concern was what was going to happen to all the excess seed that was likely to be around. The sodden fields, the high production costs, the poor prices and general poor spirits conspired to form the conclusion that a lot of land would be left idle, or worse, go under the grass barrow as we headed into the 2024 season.
