A farming friend of mine passed away last month, aged just 59. Charlie dropped dead in his farmyard, where he routinely clocked up 14-hour days.
Part of me would be critical of any farmer spending that much time chained to the job, but I’ve also had a slow realisation that if someone finds contentment in the work they do, that’s something to be accepted, rather than admonished.
