"You campaign in poetry, you govern in prose,” goes the famous quote, which warns voters to take everything said on the political campaign trail with a good pinch of salt.
In the coming weeks, voters will be inundated with communications from MEP candidates making all sorts of commitments to shake up the EU and Ireland. Amid all the noise, voters must keep in mind what MEPs can actually influence.
