Q: Hi Vicki, I am the co-founder of a small company. A problem has arisen in relation to recruitment. The other co-founder, and CEO, wants to bring his son into the company at a senior level. Quite frankly, I don’t think he’s qualified. Should I make a scene and try to stop the appointment?

A: By introducing his son to the company, your co-founder may be giving the sense that it is going to transition from a “normal” to a “family” business model, which will elevate the level of complexity. So I can see why this is posing a conundrum for you.
