Dear Vicki: If we fly rainbow flags during Pride Week at work, surely it’s OK to put up local election posters too?

Q A senior employee in my firm has told me his sister is running in the local elections in June, and he wants to put up her election posters around our premises. When I expressed reservations, he pointed out that we display rainbow flags each year for Pride Week, and he says there’s no essential difference. What would you advise?

A Allowing a colleague to put up posters around your premises involves advocating for a specific candidate and possibly a political party.
