Real Health Podcast: What to do when things don’t go your way, with Buddhist teacher Haemin Sunim

Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. What should you do when things don’t go your way? How should you react? And why should we look at problems as challenges?

On this week’s episode of the Real Health podcast, I am joined by Zen Buddhist teacher, author of ‘The Things That You See Only When You Slow Down, international bestseller, Haemen Sunim, who has written a book titled ‘When Things Don't Go Your Way.’

I asked the Buddhist teacher to explain the ‘a-ha’ and ‘ouch’ moments mentioned in the book. He said, “there is a time you have a deeper knowledge about who you are or things that you already learned before and understand them, that's what I call an a-ha moment. Or when you are suffering psychologically and you become reflective, and then you try to understand the cause of it that becomes an ouch moment.”

In the digital world we live in, I was interested to get the author’s take on twenty-four-hour news cycles. “With 24 hour news, you can say no to those things and then carve out some special time just for yourself. You know to care about how your body is feeling and how your mind is doing,” he said.
