It will be a wet start to the week before temperatures could reach as high as 19 or 20 degrees by the weekend, Met Éireann forecasts.

Rain will clear throughout today to bring a mix of bright, sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy.

Highest temperatures will reach between 10 to 13 degrees today, dropping between 3 and 7 degrees overnight.

Rain will move northwards throughout the night, some turning heavy with the chance of some spot flooding.

Showers will continue into Tuesday with persistent rain clearing northwestwards throughout the morning and bright, sunny spells to follow.

Some of the showers will be heavy, bringing with it the chance of thunder, lightning and hail.

Temperatures will reach highs of 10 to 14 degrees during the day, again dropping between 3 and 7 degrees overnight as showers become further isolated into the morning.

Milder conditions will follow, with temperatures gradually warming throughout the week.

Though Met Éireann says there is “uncertainty in the detail” from Thursday onwards, further showers or spells of rain can be expected alongside “a good lot” of dry weather and sunshine.

Wednesday, the first of May, will be much drier compared to the start of the week with a lot of dry weather and sunshine mixed with some scattered showers that could turn heavy.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 or 16 degrees are expected ahead of dropping to 3 to 8 degrees overnight when rain will push in from the Irish Sea to parts of the east and north.
