Dozens of vehicles with Russian flags and emblems have taken part in a convoy on the M6 marking 'Victory Day'

Gardaí monitored the groups movement as they travelled down the M6 heading west. Many cars had large flags and photographs of Russian figures, some people were waving Soviet Union flags. As they travelled en masse they followed by gardai on motorbikes. The Irish Independent observed garda instructing two motorbike riders move on after they stopped on the side of the motorway to film the procession. Officers were also stationed on overpass bridges. Such was the length of the convoy that it took almost five minutes to pass a single point on the road near Kilbeggan.
