The Frank Murphy interview – on 46 years with Cork: ‘I think contrary to the picture, I am a democrat’
Former secretary was chief voice in Cork for over four decades and while not centre stage now he still airs frank views
Frank Murphy, whose contribution to the GAA, according to Liam Mulvihill, won’t be fully appreciated until examined by future historians, is seated at a desk in an upstairs room at Páirc Uí Rinn, neatly framed by a commanding portrait of Christy Ring which dominates the wall behind him.
“It was a good acquisition,” he says of the ground formerly known as Flower Lodge, purchased while he was the Cork board’s full-time secretary, a position he retired from in 2019 after 46 years.
