Frank Murphy, whose contribution to the GAA, according to Liam Mulvihill, won’t be fully appreciated until examined by future historians, is seated at a desk in an upstairs room at Páirc Uí Rinn, neatly framed by a commanding portrait of Christy Ring which dominates the wall behind him.

“It was a good acquisition,” he says of the ground formerly known as Flower Lodge, purchased while he was the Cork board’s full-time secretary, a position he retired from in 2019 after 46 years.
