Having responded to their 40th callout of the year on Sunday, April 21, after their involvement in three separate incidents, Wicklow’s mountain rescue teams were back in action again on Sunday, April 28, when they once again had to come to the aid of three different casualties.

At 2.49pm both the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue team were tasked deployed to help a person with a lower leg injury in Glendalough. They were assessed by a medic before being stretchered back to base where an ambulance was waiting to collect them for onward care.

As response vehicles were making their way to the miner’s village, they were flagged down to help a person who0 had sustained a lower ankle injury. They were assessed by a medic, treated for injury, and transported back to a nearby car park to be driven to the hospital by a family member.

While on the hill, mountain rescue personnel came across a third casualty who had fallen and sustained lacerations on both knees. The patient was assessed, treated by medics, and also carried off the hill in a stretcher for transport to the hospital by family members.
