Parents and students from Scoil Chonglais in Baltinglass showed their school spirit with a hugely successful car wash fundraiser at O’Reilly’s Service Station that raised a whopping €1,450.

Organised by the Scoil Chonglais Parents Council to raise funds for their beloved school, the convivial community event saw scores of students and parents stationed outside the local service station from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., washing and cleaning all manner and make of vehicles.

Thanking all the participants, O’Reilly’s for facilitating the event, and all those who helped promote it, a Parents Council spokesperson said: “A massive thank you to all the students who came to work at the Parents Council Car Wash Fundraiser last Sunday.

“It was a resounding success, and we raised €1,450, all of which will be invested in improving student life at Scoil Chonglais.

“Thank you to all the students and parents who came out and washed cars and also those who came to support the event, which was a resounding success.

“The Parents Council of Scoil Chonglais are extremely grateful to PJ O Reilly from O Reilly's Service Station for allowing them to use his car wash facilities to fundraise for the students of Scoil Chonglais. Thanks to Heaslip Printworks and Veronica Gift Shop for their help in promoting the event.

“Thanks to the community's support, the council will put these funds raised to good use by supporting extra circular activities and thereby improving the wellbeing of the students.

“Well done everyone!”
