Nightmare stuff for Wicklow as Laois run amok in Leinster championship

Gap between grades too high at provincial level

The Wicklow adult camogie team found the jump from Junior to Intermediate level in the Leinster championship to be incredibly tough when they travelled to face Laois in Laois Hire O’Moore Park in Portlaoise last weekend.

A point in each half was all the Garden County side could manage against a Laois team that racked up a staggering 7-23 over the course of the hour.

Having won several Leinster Junior titles in recent years, Wicklow found themselves competing at the Intermediate level this season, but, going on this result, the gulf between the two grades is far too wide.
