Staff from Automatic Plastics Limited, a Comar Company based in Tinahely, showed their community spirit when they held a fantastic coffee morning in aid of Arklow Cancer Support.

Organised by Paul Byrne, Nicola Mc Carthy and Sara Ann Hutton from the plastic injection moulding manufacturers’ Social and Sports Committee, the convivial day saw company staff and local representatives Councillor Vincent Blake, Councillor John Mullen, and local election candidate Peter Stapleton come together to raise €700 in funds for a very worthy cause.

Praising everyone at the company for their generosity in supporting Arklow Cancer Support’s vital services, Paul Byrne said: “We raised a bit over €300 on the day, which we were delighted with, and then the company doubled it.

“We had Councillor Blake, Councillor Mullen and local candidate Peter Stapleton, and most of the staff were in attendance. We did a tea break later on for those on the night shift, who also donated.

“The Social and Sports Committee do fundraisers throughout the year, and we normally get the staff to pick a number of charities at the beginning of the year, and then we put it to a vote, and Arklow Cancer Support came out on top this year,” he continued.

“Everyone has been touched by cancer, and when we picked Arklow Cancer Support, we went down to Arklow and spent an hour there, and they told us about their services driving people up and down to the hospital.

“After hearing about all the great work they do and their support services, it was very clear to all the staff that they are an extremely worthy cause.”
