Wexford Football League: North End United beat Shamrock Rovers to take Under-19 League title

Under-19 League

North End United were crowned Under-19 League champions after seeing off Shamrock Rovers 3-0 in their title decider in Peter Quinn Park on Saturday.

Conor Cullen opened the scoring midway through the first-half, and they had some breathing space when Seán O’Connor doubled their tally in the 68th minute.

Callum Farrell put the icing on the cake when he added a third goal late on.

Shamrock Rovers set up the title showdown with the Sky Blues by overcoming Forth Celtic 2-0 in Matt Ennis Park on Tuesday of last week.

Darragh Harris got the opening goal on the half-hour mark, and he grabbed a second shortly after the interval.

James Hegarty and Justin McMahon both bagged doubles for Forth Celtic as they overcame All Blacks 5-1 at Matt Ennis Park.

Leo Barry opened the scoring for the hosts, while Fionn Mulligan netted for All Blacks.

Youths Premier Division

Wexford Albion strengthened their position in second spot in the Youths Premier Division with a 2-0 win over New Ross Town in Murrintown on Thursday evening.

Callum Fowler and Flavio Grama got the goals.

Curracloe United and Gorey Rangers shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw in the River Field on Friday evening.

Joe O’Leary put the home side ahead in first-half injury time, but George Kavanagh drew Gorey Rangers level seven minutes after the break.

Josh Kinsella restored the seasiders’ advantage in the 63rd minute, but again Rangers responded, with Stephen Murphy netting the equaliser with nine minutes remaining.

A Dylan Kennedy double sent Gorey Celtic on their way to a 4-1 win over New Ross Town in Bodibro Park on Saturday.

Frankie Switon and Myron Davidson Gahan got the other goals for the hosts.

Youths Division 2

Ferns are in pole position for the Youths Division 2 title after overcoming local rivals Tombrack United in Clone on Friday evening.

Early goals from Bobby Ronan and Seán Ronan Dwyer put the hosts in control and, although Rian Buttle pulled one back just before the half-hour mark, Seán Murphy made it 3-1 before the break.

Oisín Croinin put the icing on the cake with their fourth goal in the 85th minute.

Laurence Cloke grabbed an 80th-minute winner for Caim United as they beat Bree United by the odd goal in seven.

James McHugh (two) and Kieran Redmond got the other goals for the winners, with Lee Broaders (two) and Cillian Murphy replying.

Youths Division 3

Campile United were confirmed as Youths Division 3 champions with two games to spare following second-placed Adamstown’s failure to beat St. Leonards in midweek.

Leonards kept their hopes of clinching the runners-up spot alive with a 4-2 away win over Adamstown on Thursday evening. The visitors got on the scoresheet through an own goal, Conor Burke, Neil Gallagher and Marc Ryan, with Seán Murray and Jack O’Shea scoring for Adamstown.

Youths Division 4

Gorey Rangers and North End United are battling for the Youths Division 4 crown after both recorded convincing midweek wins.

Wayne Doyle and Darragh Gethings scored five goals apiece for Gorey Rangers as they overwhelmed Courtown Hibs 12-1 at Ounavarra Park.

Patrick Rooney and Kerim James Fullam also got in on the act, while Anthony Cronin Shaughnessy netted for Hibs.

North End United beat Curracloe United 5-0 in Hollygrove, with Troy Sinnott, Kyle Connolly, Seán McCleane (two) and Darragh Nolan getting the goals.

A goal in each half earned Wexford Albion a 2-0 win over Glynn Barntown in Murrintown on Friday evening.

Luke Sweeney opened the scoring six minutes before the break, and Jegors Gavrilovs doubled their tally in the 71st minute.
