A Dublin restaurant is calling for the return of a “precious ceramic fish” which was stolen from the premises this week.

Izakaya, a Japanese tapas and sushi restaurant on South Great George’s Street, said the theft “may be funny for a drunk person, but it’s extremely significant to us”.

Their restaurant is decorated with items sourced directly from Japan and the ceramic fish, which was recently taken by customers, had a sentimental value.

“Unfortunately a couple stole a precious ceramic fish that was brought from Japan a few years ago,” a spokesperson told the Irish Independent.

“Izakaya is a family run business and everything we have in here, to make it a more beautiful place to eat and to work at, has been handpicked by our owners or managers.

“We trust our customers with our valuable decorations, so to have someone who enjoys our food and drink steal something from us is really disheartening.

“We have clear CCTV footage of these people and would appreciate it if they would return the fish, no questions asked. Until then, they can consider themselves banned,” they added.
