Just before 7am yesterday, gardaí arrived at Mount Street in Dublin. Barriers were erected and signage alerted people to a garda operation on the street, a stone’s throw from Leinster House.

As commuters were on the way to work, staff from the HSE, Dublin City Council and various government departments began the process of dismantling what Taoiseach Simon Harris described as a “shanty town”.
