The Tommy, Hector & Laurita podcast has come to an end, its hosts have announced.

Tommy Tiernan, Hector Ó hEochagáin and Laurita Blewitt have announced they are closing one of the most popular Irish podcasts for good due to their busy schedules.

“Tommy, Hector & Laurita have made the difficult decision to close the Henhouse podcast door for good," they said on social media.

"This wonderful podcast started during the pandemic when all three had clear work schedules and although it has been hugely successful & a wonderful experience for all involved, it became tougher to find time to record together allowing for each of their individual careers and schedules.”

"Thank you for listening," the trio added in a joint statement.

Comedian and chat show host Tiernan said in an individual post: “Thank you so much for listening to us over the past few years and a thousand thank you’s to Hector and Laurita for making me laugh more than anybody else has ever."

"It was a wild and brilliant trip… See ye down the road for a few morning pints!”

"Comhrá Abú… grá mór, meas mór, gáire an mhór...," Tiernan signed off.

The popular podcast has been running since September 2020.

Broadcaster and comedian Ó hEochagáin added: “I just want to say a big Thank You for listening in to our conversations down in the Hen House over the past few years."

"I’ve had some of the best laughs with Tommy & Laurita on this podcast, in tears with giddiness and craic, we have had ups and downs, and stories, loads and loads of stories.

"Thank you Yvonne, Jone and SwanMcG for everything. I’ll miss ye… ye big pack of sneers! Méas Mór," Meath presenter added.

Meanwhile, radio host and producer Blewitt said: “It’s been such a fun few years doing the podcast with two of my greatest pals."

"We have had so many laughs together and so glad that we had you along side us enjoying it as much as we did.

"From recording in the Hen House to getting creamy pints in so many beautiful old bars across the West it has been nothing but a joy with Tommy & Hector.

"Thanks to everyone who made the podcast a success and to Joe, Yvonne and all at SwanMcG for keeping us between the ditch.

"This may not be the last you hear from me… or from Audrey… watch this space," a Mayo presenter said.

Fans shared their sadness over the closure, with some hoping it to be an April Fool's joke.

“First thing I did was check the time on this in the hope it was posted yesterday,” one fan has posted on X.

Another listener added: "Sad news. You've made me belly laugh through some very difficult times these past couple of years. A big thanks to you all for that. Wishing you all the luck!"

"You were a great tonic. The best of luck and thanks for a laughs," an X user said.
