A mix of sunshine and longer spells of rain is forecast for the weekend, as temperatures today are set to reach highs of 22C, Met Éireann has said.

While there will also be sunny spells on Sunday, Met Éireann has said weather will start to become more unsettled and rain is forecast for next week.

There will be sun and cloud for some parts of the country on Sunday though there will be longer spells of rain affecting many parts and some will turn thundery.

Highest daytime temperatures will range between 15C and 19C and overnight temperatures expected to be between 8C and 11C.

There will be more rain on Monday and showers will be heaviest in the east with the chance of thunderstorms. It will be cooler on Monday when temperatures will be between 13C and 17C.

Rain will become more widespread on Tuesday when rain will become persistent.

The heaviest of the rain will be over Leinster where there will be a chance of localised flooding and temperatures forecast to be between 11C and 14C.

“Wednesday and Thursday will continue quite cool with further showers, some heavy. Temperatures will range from about 11 to 15 degrees with mostly light to moderate breezes,” Met Éireann said.
