Artist, Aosdána member and peace activist Margaretta D’Arcy may be approaching age 90 in June, but that hasn’t stopped her declaring her candidacy for the local elections in Galway.

“And why not, when there is so much happening — and at my age, there’s not much they can throw at you anyway,” D’Arcy told the Sunday Independent.
