It’s the end of an era for one of the ­cornerstones of business in Dublin’s Rathgar – as Byrne’s Butchers is closing its doors in the coming weeks after more than 80 years of trading.

Tony Byrne has been working in the shop that time for more than 60 years, having apprenticed and worked alongside his father John for many years, and now he feels it is time to hang up the saws, put away the string and scrub the butcher’s block one last time.
