Cistercian College fees rose 4pc this year, as inflation took its toll, but president Colm Maloney says the boarding school is an “important” haven for busy working parents.

The latest private school data showed the private school in Co Offaly, just outside Roscrea, now costs €17,660 a year for a student to board seven days a week, or €16,660 for five-day boarders.
