Buncrana actor, who wowed Martin McDonagh and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is performing a one woman show in Dublin

McDonagh and his partner, the BBC’s Fleabag writer and actor, Waller-Bridge, went to see actress Leanne Devlin, from Buncrana, in play ‘Two Fingers Up’ last year in London.

Now, Ms Devlin is starring in Dublin in her own one-woman show - ‘Slippery When Wet’ - which she also wrote.

The young actress has recalled one of her most precious moments - when Waller-Bridge and her partner, McDonagh, came to see her and co-stars Orla Graham and Shannon Wilkinson, in London.

It was “like a fever dream,” she said - that Waller-Bridge watched her act on stage - along with her famous partner, Banshees’ Oscar nominee McDonagh.

“We found out she (Waller-Bridge) was going to be in attendance at the show… but we didn’t know who the plus one was,” Ms Devlin told the Irish Independent.

“None of us thought it would be Martin McDonagh because that would have been just too wild for us to think of as a possibility.

“Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been my idol, as a writer and an actor, for years. So, to have her in the audience, was crazy.”

She added of meeting the stars: “They gave us a standing ovation… and hung around after and talked…” She said the saying ‘don’t meet your heroes,” turned out to be untrue on this occasion.

“They were the nicest people,” she added. The actress, whose play is running at Bewley’s Café Theatre in Dublin.

The one-woman comedy drama focuses on the life of an actress-turned-cleaner, forced to return home from the city.

She falls in love as she contemplates her future over a mop and bucket and some wild nights out.

The Dublin Fringe Bewley’s Little Gem award-winner will run until April 27.
