Former Miss Universe Ireland Roz Purcell has admitted that her wedding planning “isn’t going anywhere” after getting engaged last summer.

The RTÉ 2fm presenter announced that her longterm partner Zach Desmond had popped the question last August with a series of Instagram snaps at the Cliffs of Moher.

And just seven weeks later at the end of October, her sister Rachel got engaged to her partner Kevin and said she hoped to “get all the wedding planning tips from Roz”.

But it might be some time before Rachel can follow in his sister’s footsteps, as Roz admitted that she hasn’t put much thought into her big day at all.

Speaking to VIP Magazine last week, she explained: “The wedding planning isn’t going anywhere. I haven’t really done anything. Work has been really busy, so this will definitely be a long engagement.

“The hardest part is finding somewhere where we actually want to get married. We have an idea of what we want but we don’t know where.”

She said that any newlyweds she’s spoken to about their nuptials have said that choosing the locations is a crucial step as the wedding itself “won’t be for another two years as everywhere is booked out”.

Roz also clarified that she’s not being purposefully quiet about her wedding planning.

“Every time people ask me, I think they think I’m holding back or being secretive, but the honest truth is I have not even thought about it,” she told Evoke.

“It'll be a long engagement, there's no rush.”

The Tipperary native seems to have changed her mind about her and Zach’s period of engagement, as she revealed last autumn that she was keen to walk down the aisle “as soon as possible” following the death of a relative.

She opened up at the time about how the death of her aunt Mary, affectionately known as Mame, made her realise she wanted to tie the knot soon.

"We were hoping to get married as soon as possible because I have lots of older relatives," she told the RTÉ Guide.

"Our plan was to get married so that Mame could be at the wedding, but she sadly passed away a few weeks ago. She was a huge part of our childhood and was like a second mum to us.

"It was auntie Mame who instilled my love of baking and it was she who kept us busy and entertained as children.

"And yes, Mame, will get a big mention at the wedding,” Roz added.
