Wayne Bailey: Willie Mullins is going all out for Scottish National but Mr Vango looks under the radar

There’s been a lot of debate in the past few years on how Irish-trained horses have come to dominate British racing, and whether it’s bad for the sport. So, it’s incredible really that the last Irish-trained winner of the Scottish Grand National was 155 years ago in 1869.

The horse in question was Huntsman, trained and ridden by a man named Larry Hyland, although that was at Bogside racecourse in Irvine rather than Ayr.
