St Saviour's Church in Arklow was alive with the sound of enchanting music and community spirit when Carysfort National School held their fundraising ‘Canadh Le Chéile’ concert, which lived up to its name “together in song” as it wowed spectators.

With the beautiful building brimming as people came from far and wide to support the children of Carysfort National School, concertgoers immediately sensed a special night ahead as they were greeted at the door by the glamorous, black-tie front-of-house team and enchanted by the embellishment of the venue, transformed by Janita Kelty.

There were stunning performances from the Carysfort Children's Choir, Lir Female Ensemble, Elaine Walker, Naoimh Penston and John Bonner, with spectators mesmerised by the sublime Peter Corry, Northern Ireland's greatest showman who said he was delighted to travel down from Belfast on the behest of his cousin Stephen Smith.

Audiences were blown away by the Arklow Shipping Silver Band, whose captivating performances thrilled from the triumphant ‘76 trombones’ until ‘The Final Countdown’.

The only dampener on an otherwise electric evening's entertainment was the devastating withdrawal of Sharon Walker, who lost her voice and was denied the chance to entertain the sell-out crowd with her beautiful soprano voice.

Compere for the night, Janet Nuzum paid tribute to concert organisers Sharon and Elaine Walker for a wonderful job and said that the school was overwhelmed by the level of goodwill, support and amazing sponsorship, which came from the community.

Janet also thanked St Saviour's Parish for the use of the venue, the concert committee, the PTA and all the wonderful performers.
