A pub in Co Wexford has reopened its party venue following a devastating fire which broke out in its storeroom on Monday, March 18.

Fire fighters fought a major blaze at Jack’s Tavern in Camolin last month as the fire spread from the storeroom out into the smoking area.

The fire which started as a result of an electrical fault spread faster due to the explosion of beer barrels. Owner of Jack’s Tavern, Jack Redmond has worked tirelessly for the last month along with family and friends to restore the damaged parts of the building. Their first event was held in the restored building on Friday, April 12 for a gig which was booked from the previous year.

"We got everything back up and running with help from friends and people working putting in late hours including myself to get it back so we could open again.”

"We’re back fulfilling any parties that we had bookings for so that was the main aim to get back into business. It’s been a hard graft and hard work to get back but it’s good to be back and hopefully at some stage in the future it will be bigger and better,” said Jack.

The main bar area remained open after the fire as it wasn’t damaged.

"Thanks to the fire brigade and gardaí on the day of the fire and to everyone that helped us along the way as well as the customers for all of the goodwill. We’re overwhelmed by the amount of goodwill from people,” said Jack.
