CHORD CELTIC 2NDS 3

BAY 3

Chord Celtic 2nds put their first point on the table in glorious conditions on Saturday as they were involved in a six-goal thriller at home to Bay.

Two goals from Emmanuel Johnson helped the Drogheda side to a share of the spoils and Jake Farrell provided the assist for all three, with the midfielder really pulling the strings.

Jamie King’s side were forced to give a walkover earlier in the season before losing 4-0 to Square United, but the Drogheda team have begun to show signs of settling into the division.

There was a poor start for the hosts as Bay hit the front on three minutes following a poor defensive error. However, Chord struck back 15 minutes later as a pinpoint pass from Farrell put Johnson through and the striker made no mistake.

Buoyed by the goal Chord pushed forward and again Farrell and Johnson combined to give the hosts the lead on 26 minutes.

But almost straight from the restart Bay broke downfield and levelled once more, with keeper Robert Murray well beaten.

The sides went in level at the break before Chord player/manager Jamie King gave his side the lead for the second time on 53 minutes. Once more, though, they were pegged back as Bay made it 3-3 on the hour mark.

Either side could have won it in the final 30 minutes, but it finished level in the end.
