The rugged beauty of West Kerry is set to unfurl for a legion of hardy hikers on the June Bank Holiday weekend as St Pat’s Blennerville GAA Club prepare for their annual Dingle Way Challenge.

The 2024 edition sees two routes on offer on the Sunday of the June Bank Holiday – a 42km-long ‘Ultra Route’ from the dramatic Coumeenole beach, through Dingle, Lispole and onto Annascaul; and a 30km-long ‘Standard Route’ from beautiful Ventry beach through Dingle, Lispole and Annascaul.

It promises an unforgettable journey for all participants through the beauty of the famous peninsula, and the Club was delighted to launch it up in Tonevane above Blennerville this week in the company of sponsors Poff Motors and Kerry World Champion mountain-running legend John Lenihan.

“This walking event in the Dingle peninsula has grown in popularity over the last number of years with many walkers returning each year.

“The walking challenge provides for a variety of options and with an early-bird registration concession in place until May 8 the event is already proving popular,” St Pat’s Blennerville PR officer Sharon Williams said.

For more information on the routes and to register a place on the Challenge go to www.eventbrite.ie and look for Dingle Way Challenge 2024.

Details of the event can also be accessed by following the Club on Facebook and Instagram “Dingle Way Challenge”.

There will be plenty of food stops and support along the way to ensure a brilliant day with buses on hand to take everyone back to Blennerville.
