Dublin restaurant owner says city ‘out of control’ after ‘smash and grab’ theft

It's the second restaurant in the area to suffer in recent weeks, after Bootleg on Drury Street was also targeted.

A second restaurant has fallen victim to a smash and grab in Dublin City Centre in the last week.

La Gordita on Montague Street said the “city is simply out of control” as they posted images of a smashed window.

Workers had arrived into work this morning to find broken glass and their till drawer gone.

In a post on X, they said” "Our city is simply out of control.

"It's all we hear, and then we arrive into this, this morning.

"Till drawer gone - smash and grab, and we're not permitted to put shutters on the outside of our premises???

"Our team is safe but not after regular abuse in recent weeks.

"Something must be done."

It's the second restaurant in the area to suffer in recent weeks, Dublin radio station Q102 reports, after Bootleg on Drury Street, was targeted.

Thieves made off with the cash register, wine bottle stocks and staff tip packets in that incident.
